The
third and fourth graders ventured with Mrs. Burns and Miss Fay to the
Florence Griswold Museum this week where they participated in three
activities that focused on visual literacy. Each
activity exposed students to developing their artistic vocabulary,
learning – to – look strategies, as well as, artist tools and
techniques. Students explored the art galleries, Florence Griswold's
historic home and then spent time painting outside with Connecticut's
Lieutenant River as their landscape. After a picnic lunch, students were
then issued digital cameras to take photographs to capture specifics
from the Wee Faerie Village. After this trip students were able to apply
what they have learned during their day at the museum, keyboarding and
library class, and language arts instruction. Up next; utilize the
images to create narratives. Congratulations Anthony, Claire, Ekaterina,
Griffin and Isabella on your hard work and willingness to dive into new
experiences.
A
big thank you goes out to Mrs. Bean for her digital expertise, Ms. Fay
for her input and time, the educators at the museum who made this
possible and to Mrs. Harris for her presence on this trip.
